St. James Vegetable Garden Project - The St. Joseph Society is initiating an ambitious outreach project this spring in which the entire parish is invited to take part. The ground beside the Parish Life Center has been prepared, and Children's Church is helping plant the seeds. The produce will go to feed the hungry in Greenville.
Volunteers are needed for a wide range of tasks:
- coming up once or twice a week to hoe and weed
- helping to lay down drip-irrigation hoses
- donating basic tools and implements
- soliciting contributions of supplies, such as mulch or organic fertilizer
- laying out rows and planting seeds
- helping with putting a fence around the garden plot
- making a sign about the Garden Project for travelers on Piney Mountain Road
- organizing so that task-lists and tools are always ready for volunteers
- recruiting friends to volunteer
Lots of hands will make light(er) work!
